And the Catch-22 of the day...

One of the most beautiful suggestions of the (otherwise pretty okay) after-sales guy: "I assume we don't sell them because there has been no demand for this layout in Europe."

Am I that alone in the keyboard layout department?

No. You're not.

Ok I myself am unclear on the actual difference here, because I don't know what the Dutch one looks like. Is it:

Missing keys?
With Bonus keys?
With whacked keycaps?
FRENCH?

Cuz, if it's French, you have my permission to just shoot the Apple Store employees. "I've never had trouble with it" "YOU FUCKING LIE."

It's like vi. People who insist that vi is a usable editor have been forced to use it by a horribly evil person who would not let them leave their chair until they had mastered every nuance of it, and could cite the mantra of vi users everywhere: "You must use vi, it is the only editor" or whatever the hell they say. I don't care, I just point out that escape colon w q bang is NOT easier to remember than menu-keystroke save-keystroke. And they go apeshit and have brain hemmorages and I get my work done and they still insist that they can do shit that I can't and I say "fine, I don't CARE, I'm using what I FUCKING USE."

Which is of course textmate now. Anyway, point is, I know what you're saying with "I want MY f*n keyboard."

Now back to the question: is it caps? I bought a blank U:berkeyboard (yes I know I haven't got this to type umlauts, it's using a US keymap, so no umlauts. Note: not one of my macs I'm using. I don't ... know why I'm using this one on the 22" widescreen. Oh yes it's because I'm backing this one up TO the minimac. Oh shit I can't rely on the minimac, that may have to go back to work...

Right so anyway. What is it you want, the keycaps or the missing keys from a US keyboard?

I'm guessing caps. I just... have to deal with the Finnish one.

But yes. I think we should inform Apple that this braindead policy is just plain STUPID.

And maybe we'll just order replacement keyboards from somewhere that understands the concept of customer service.
